개막콘서트 지휘자 얀 미워시 자르지츠키

폴란드 웜자의 비톨드 루토슬라브스키 챔버 필하모닉을 운영 및 예술 감독인 얀 미워시 자르지츠키는 바르샤바의 프리데릭 쇼팽 음악대학 교수로 이탈리아, 스페인, 헝가리에서 열린 국제 콩쿠르의 우승자이기도 하다. 브로츠와프의 음악원에서 마렉 피야로프스키의 문하에서 지휘를 전공한 그는 이어 빈과 베를린에서 세이지 오자와, 쿠르트 마수르, 클라우디오 아바도 등 당대 최고 지휘자들을 사사했다. 지휘를 공부하기 전 얀 미워시 자르지츠키는 카토비체 음악원에서 바이올린을 전공했으며(1990년), 바르샤바 대학교 경영학과에서 예술가 및 문화 애니메이터 대학원을 졸업했다. 

1988년 자르지츠키는 카토비체 음악원 Jeunesses Musicales 학생 챔버 오케스트라 음악 감독을 역임했고, 1992~1993년에는 브로츠와프 국립 오페라단과 함께 했다. 그는 1994년 비아위스토크에서 열린 제1회 비톨트 루토슬라브스키 전국 지휘자 콩쿠르에서 1등상 수상자로, 3개의 특별상(오케스트라상 포함)을 수상한 바 있다. 또한 1997년 파르마에서 열린 제7회 아르투로 토스카니니 국제 지휘자 콩쿠르에서 3위를 수상하며 에밀리아 로마냐의 아르투로 토스카니니 심포니 오케스트라 지휘자로 초청받아 이탈리아 순회 공연을 이끌었다.

카토비체 국립 폴란드 라디오 심포니 오케스트라, 신포니아 바르소비아, 바르샤바 챔버 오페라와 함께 작업해 오고 있는 자르지츠키는 1999년 바르샤바 프리데릭 쇼팽 음악대학의 지휘과 교수진으로 임명된 이후 슈체친에서 국제 청소년 음악 워크숍(예술 감독 겸 지휘자)을 지휘하고 있다. 2004년에는 롬자 챔버 오케스트라의 예술 감독 겸 단장으로 선출되었다. 

그는 폴란드의 모든 오케스트라를 지휘하며 해외 투어를 통해 독일, 프랑스, 오스트리아, 네덜란드, 체코, 러시아, 이탈리아, 우크라이나, 마케도니아, 미국, 포르투갈, 멕시코, 레바논, 스페인, 노르웨이, 벨기에, 리투아니아, 벨라루스 등을 방문했다. 또한 현재까지 20여개의 앨범을 녹음했으며, 그 중 하나는 폴란드의 프레데릭 어워드 후보에, 3개는 국제 클래식 음악상 후보에 올랐다.

자르지츠키는 폴란드 음악 문화에 기여한 공로를 인정받아 문화 및 유산부 장관으로부터 특별상(2008)과 쇼팽의 음악적 유산을 보존함에 있어 뛰어난 공을 세움으로 2011년과 2013년에 훈장을 받았다. 또한 2013년 문화 공로 훈장인 Gloria Artis 메달, Podlaskie Voivodeship Marshal 원수상, 문화 분야 특별 공로상인 롬자 대통령상을 수상했다. 2014년 폴란드 대통령의 결정으로 대학 정교수로 임명 되었다. 

Jan Miłosz Zarzycki is Managing and Artistic Director of the Witold Lutosławski Chamber Philharmonic in Łomża. He is also a Professor at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. He is a prize winner of international competitions in Italy, Spain and Hungary.

He studied conducting with Marek Pijarowski at the Music Academy in Wrocław, gaining a diploma with distinction in 1994. He continued his studies in Vienna and Berlin, under the guidance of such famous conductors as Seiji Ozawa, Kurt Masur and Claudio Abbado. Before taking up conducting, he had graduated in violin performance from the Music Academy in Katowice (in 1990) and won several awards at violin competitions. He also finished Post-graduate Studies for Artists and Culture Animators at the Department of Management of Warsaw University. 

In 1988 he became Music Director of the Jeunesses Musicales Student Chamber Orchestra at the Music Academy in Katowice, and in 1992-1993 he worked closely with the State Opera in Wrocław. He was one of the two First Prize winners at the First Witold Lutosławski National Conductors’ Competition in Białystok in 1994, receiving also three special awards (including the Award from the Orchestra). Having won Third Prize at the 7th Arturo Toscanini International Conductors’ Competition in Parma in 1997, he was invited to conduct the Arturo Toscanini Symphony Orchestra of Emilia Romagna on a tour of Italy.

He has worked with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Sinfonia Varsovia, and the Warsaw Chamber Opera. In 1999 he was nominated the lecturer and a member of Conducting Faculty at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. From this time on, he has also been conducting International Youth Music Workshop in Szczecin (as its artistic director and conductor). In 2004 he won the competition for the post of the head and artistic manager of Łomża Chamber Orchestra.

He has conducted all of Poland’s symphony orchestras. Foreign tours have taken him to Germany, France, Austria, Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Russia, Italy, Ukraine, Macedonia, the United States, Portugal, Mexico, Lebanon, Spain, Norway, Belgium, Lithuania and Belarus. So far, he has recorded 20 albums, one of which won the Fryderyk Award 2019 of the Polish recording industry, seven of which won a nomination to the Fryderyk Award and three to International Classical Music Awards. 

His honours include a Special Award from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in recognition of the invaluable contribution to Polish musical culture (2008) and a diploma for his outstanding achievements in the preservation of Chopin's legacy (2011 and 2013). Furthermore, in 2013 he was honoured with Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis Medal, Podlaskie Voivodeship Marshal's Award for extraordinary achievements in the field of artistic creation, popularisation and preservation of culture and the President of the Lomza Award for special achievements in the field of culture. In 2014 by the decision of the Polish president, Jan Miłosz Zarzycki has become the Professor of Musical Arts.
